So, I had this "thing" on my forehead. A spot. An annoying, very itchy red spot. I went to my general doctor and he froze it off. Well, it came back. Got bigger and itchier. Then the skin got so thin on it it would bleed just by touching it. Four years have gone by, yes four, and it wouldn't heal. I decided that it was time to go to the Dermatologist. He takes a look, listens to my story and then says, "It's not healing because it's cancer" That's it, plain and simple and he continued on...blah, blah, blah....WAIT, GO BACK, I'M STILL STUCK ON THE CANCER PART! He continued in his very soothing "no big deal" voice to tell me that it was the most common kind of skin cancer and it was "no big deal." Basil Cell Carcinoma. It was a simple extraction procedure and again it would be "no big deal." So, he did a biopsy that day to be sure. Then a month later I went in for the extraction. Had to be numbed in the forehead, that was pleasant! Then he cut it out. Then came back and cut out some more. Then came back and said there was a small superficial spot left, but it could be treated with medicine and there was no need to cut more out. So, "no big deal" right? WRONG!
I'm sorry but a hole in my head just slightly larger than a quarter is A BIG DEAL!!! Anyway, it went well besides all that. I had to go back 3 days later for the plastic surgeon to close it up. Oh, did I mention that my plastic surgeon is a hottie? I dubbed him Dr. McYummy, cause his name is York Yates. Here is what I looked like when he got done...
I know the picture is fuzzy, but it was pretty ugly. It looked like I had been in a car accident. But, that procedure went smoothly as well. I was even put under with a local anesthesia that they didn't think they would do due to my heart. It was great. The anesthesiologist was awesome! I'm healing pretty well. I will post a pic later when the steri strips come off. I will start the cream therapy for the remaining cancer at the end f July. I'll know more then. So there you have it. No big deal right? HA!
