Those who know me best, know that I am a Food Network JUNKY!! Danny and I love the show Diners, Drive-In's and Dives. We watch it faithfully every week. Guy Fieri, the host, is also a fav. Last season the show came here to Utah to feature some local dives. They visited a small burger place that is not far from our house and a Mexican restaurant in SLC call the Red Iguana. We had been to both of these places in the past. They also visited about 4 more restaurants that we haven't been to. Well, there was one on the list, Moochies, that Danny and I were dying to try. We finally made it there this weekend after Cass' soccer game. It was so fun and I was giddy like a kid. Yes, I pulled out the camera to document the experience. The lady that owns it is from Philadelphia and the restaurant serves authentic Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches. They are also famous for there Italian Meatball sandwiches and "Not Your Mom's Meatloaf" sandwiches. It did not disappoint! It was SCRUMPTIOUS! If you live in Utah you need to get your boody down to Moochies. 232 E. 800 S.

Visitors from California
Danny's parents came for a visit in April. They were here for a week and it was so nice to have them. I had been really sick the week before and I was still recovering, that was a bummer, but it was still wonderful to see them just the same. We did a few things like take a trip out to Cabella's and take them to our favorite Japanese Steak house for Jane's birthday. I was able to cook a few meals and Danny was able to get some of his Mom's famous breakfasts. They got to meet their new "grand-dog," Cali. Jane tried to help us with the potty training and Fino and Cali pal'd around on the couch watching TV. I think she enjoyed their visit too! We were able to have my family over for a BBQ also the day before they left. The visit was too short as usual, but we will see them again in August when we venture back to California.
Porter's 10th Birthday
My cousin Porter turned the big 10! He wanted a Salt Lake Real cake. (That is the professional soccer team here in Utah.) I wasn't sure I could pull it off, but I think it turned out real cute! I'm not very good at writing on cakes and my XANGO is a little off, but that's OK. I have pictures of the cake, but I forgot to bring the camera to his house for his party, DUH! I'm posting a picture of Porter and I from Christmas instead and his cake follows...

Catching up with Cooking Club!
Well, I missed posting my Cooking Club pictures and some featured recipes from April! That's not good. Not good at all. April was a fun month. I was able to bring my mother-n-law Jane with me. I was so excited for her to see what goes on each month since I talk it about is so much. Our theme was "Spice of Life." Each person had to draw a spice or herb and make a dish based on what they drew. Our host Vanessa did the most amazing table-scape. It was a winner for sure! Some of my pictures didn't turn out, but here are the ones that did...
Kathryn (Nutmeg) Pumpkin Pancakes
Jill (Dill) Dilled Creamed Potatoes
Heather (Ginger) Ginger Snaps
Amy (Curry) Curried Chicken Strawberry Salad
Vanessa (Cumin) Gazpacho &
Christy (Cinnamon) Cinnamon Roll Milkshakes
I drew Oregano. The picture of my dish didn't turn out so well, but I made Chicken Souvlaki with Tzatziki sauce. Here is the recipe, I hope you'll try it!
